If you sell on Amazon and use any poly bag, shrink wrap, or plastic mailer, FBA has a strict rule: bags with an opening of 5 inches or more must carry a printed suffocation warning. Get it wrong and your shipment can be refused at the fulfillment center. Here's what you need to know.
The rule
Amazon requires that any transparent poly bag or shrink wrap with an opening (laid flat) of 5 inches or greater display a suffocation warning. For most categories the warning must be printed on the bag — a sticker is not accepted — and must be legible.
The exact warning text
“WARNING: To avoid danger of suffocation, keep this bag away from babies and children. Do not use this bag in cribs, beds, carriages, or playpens. This bag is not a toy.” Print size scales with the bag — larger bags require larger type (generally 24-point or bigger for bags with an opening over 60 inches).
Which bags need it
Any poly bag or mailer that fully encloses the product and has a 5-inch-or-larger opening. The bag must be transparent so the item and its barcode are visible, and it shouldn't extend more than about 3 inches beyond the product on any side.
How to stay compliant
